Cost Information: Administration of an Estate

 

Administration of an Estate that is not Contested

 

Probate
We can help you through this difficult process by obtaining a Grant of Probate on your behalf.  We also undertake the collecting and distribution of distributing assets:-

 

1. Grant only Application

 

Pricing for obtaining the Grant of Probate ranges between £800 to £2,500 (plus VAT)

 

The exact costs will depend on the individual circumstances of the matter.  For example, if there is one beneficiary and no property, costs will be at the lower end of the range.  If there are multiple beneficiaries, more than one property, multiple bank accounts, costs will be at the higher end of the range.

 

We will handle the full process of applying for a Grant of Probate for you.  The above pricing assumes the following:

 

  1. There is a valid Will.
  2. There is no more than one property.
  3. There are no more than two Bank or Building Society Accounts.
  4. There are no other intangible assets.
  5. There are 1 – 3 beneficiaries.
  6. There are no disputes between beneficiaries on division of assets.  If disputes arise it is likely to lead to an increase in costs
  7. There is no Inheritance Tax payable and the Executors do not need to submit a full account to HM Revenue & Customs.
  8. There are no claims made against the estate.

 

Disbursements included in this fee are:

  1. A Probate application fee of £273.

 

Disbursements are costs related to your matter that are payable to third parties, such as Court fees.  We handle the payment of the disbursements on your behalf to ensure a smoother process.

 

Potential Additional Costs


  1. If there is no Will or the estate consists of any shareholdings (stocks, Bonds ISA’s) there is likely to be additional costs that could range significantly depending on the estate and how it is dealt with.  We can give you a more accurate estimate once we have more information.
  2. If any additional copies of the Grant are required, they will cost £1.50 (one per asset usually).


How Long Will It Take?


On average the obtaining of the Grant of Probate for an estate within this range are dealt with within four to six months.

 

Hourly Rate


Our hourly rate ranges between £180 to £200 per hour.  Our estimate of costs will be provided following instruction and agreed with you.

Pricing for the above ranges between £1,500 to £4,500  (plus VAT).
